Maren Morris has finally shared with the world the next step in her musical career. She released her new single "Girl" as well as Girl: The World Tour with special guests Cassadee Pope and Raelyn on select dates.
The song "Girl" is the first piece of new music we've gotten since Morris's album HERO in 2017. She says on The Bobby Bones Show song is meant to be a release and therapeutic because it was everything she needed to stay to herself. It started as a song to other women, but then became a song she was singing to herself. Before the song came out though - she brings her friends and husband Ryan Hurd together to litmus test everything about it.
Morris is up for five Grammy nominations at this year's 61st Annual Grammy Awards and she notes that she wasn't expecting to get any Grammy noms especially some of the ones she received for "Dear Hate" and "Mona Lisas and Mad Hatters." Her total list of nominations include; Song Of The Year, Record Of The Year, Best Pop Duo/Group Performance, Best Country Solo Performance, and Best country song.
"The Middle" her song collaboration with Zedd and Grey was her biggest song up for noms and the song that brought her music to several other countries outside of the United States. Morris says it was crazy to go to countries where English wasn't the main language, but the audience would sing back "The Middle" every single word.
Getting married and adding a few years to her life, Morris shares that she feels like a different person. She notes "I'm still a feisty Texas, but I've softened up a bit from being in the spotlight and getting married. [...] I feel like more of a grown up and this music is more grown up."
On some things that are her favorites, Morris shared that she loves to watch Narcos Mexico on Netflix, she drinks Almond Milk lattes, her go-to karaoke song is "Wannabe" by SpiceGirls or "Halo" from Beyonce, her song when she's sad is "Everybody Hurts" by R.E.M., and her favorite pizza topping is probably something spicy like jalapenos and pepperoni.
