U.S. Life Expectancy Sees an Uptick

The United States is witnessing a rebound in average life expectancy, which now stands at 77.5 years. This marks a recovery from a recent decline. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) attributes this 1.1-year increase from 2021 to 2022 to reduced death rates from COVID-19, heart disease, cancer, unintentional injuries, and homicide.

Despite this improvement, life expectancy has not yet reached its 2014 peak of 78.9 years and remains lower than some other developed nations. Men have seen their life expectancy rise to 74.8 years, while women have experienced an increase to 80.2 years.
