Consumer Reports Reveals Most Reliable Used Car Brands: Lexus Tops the List

Cars can often become financial burdens, especially new ones that depreciate the moment they leave the dealership. Opting for a used car can be a great way to save money, but it comes with its own risks since the vehicle’s condition and potential repair costs aren’t always clear. Fortunately, Consumer Reports has released its inaugural ranking of the most reliable used cars to help buyers make informed decisions.

The nonprofit organization evaluated 26 car brands, drawing on surveys from its members about issues they encountered with their vehicles over the past year. This report covers cars from the 2014 to 2019 model years and includes data from over 150,000 vehicles. Consumer Reports emphasizes that reliability can differ significantly between model years and individual models, advising buyers to check the reliability ratings for each specific year.

Lexus tops the list as the most reliable used car brand, with Toyota following closely behind. On the other end of the spectrum, Chrysler ranks last (26th), making it the least reliable used car brand, with Dodge and Tesla also near the bottom.
