The website Country Chord compiled a list of songs that, despite their massive success, never reached the #1 spot. It’s surprising to see some of these hits didn’t make it to the top.
Here are the most surprising country songs that never reached the top of the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart:
- Amarillo by Morning by George Strait - This classic only peaked at #4 in the U.S., though it did reach #1 in Canada.
- Fancy by Reba McEntire - Despite being one of Reba’s most iconic songs, it only reached #8 in 1991.
- Crazy by Patsy Cline - This beloved track made it to #2 on the Country chart.
- Independence Day by Martina McBride - Known as one of the most powerful country songs ever, it only climbed to #12 in 1994.
- Man! I Feel Like a Woman! by Shania Twain - Although it never hit #1 in the U.S., it did top the charts in New Zealand.
- Save a Horse, Ride a Cowboy by Big & Rich - Despite being certified 2x platinum, this song didn’t break into the top 10 in 2004.
- Troubadour by George Strait - With sixty #1 hits to his name, it’s surprising that Troubadour, often considered his best song, isn’t one of them.
