I've been teased about my speed-walking for years. Now who's laughing? :)
You might want to start walking a little faster in your afternoon walk because a new study claims that fast-paced walking can increase life expectancy!
According to a new study in the journal Cancer Epidemiology, Biomarkers & Prevention, participants who claimed they went on a brisk walk on a daily basis had a longer life expectancy than those who didn't walk as fast or at all.
According to the researchers,
“Those who walked at the slowest pace had more than twofold increased risk of death from any cause, compared with those reporting the fastest walking pace,”
but this research also supports a different study about walking.
In that study, researchers found that walkers who took 100 more steps per minute in their walk also had a longer life expectancy.
