Six Dr. Seuss Books That Won't Be Published Anymore

Six Dr. Seuss books won't be published any longer due to racist and insensitive imagery.

The books that will cease publication are And to Think That I Saw It on Mulberry Street, If I Ran the Zoo, McElligot's Pool, On Beyond Zebra!, Scrambled Eggs Super!, and The Cat's Quizzer.

"These books portray people in ways that are hurtful and wrong,"

Dr. Seuss Enterprises, the business that preserves and protects the author's legacy said in a statement Tuesday.

"Ceasing sales of these books is only part of our commitment and our broader plan to ensure Dr. Seuss Enterprises' catalog represents and supports all communities and families,"

they said. Dr. Seuss Enterprises says the decision was made last year after many months of discussion in an effort to support

"all children and families with messages of hope, inspiration, inclusion, and friendship."

Some of the racist and insensitive portrayals of people include Chinese men depicted with two lines for eyes and men from Africa are shown shirtless, shoeless, and wearing grass skirts.
