The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) now says we must practice social distancing from our family pets.
We already act like our pets are human. Scientists wants us to extend that treatment with respect to the virus. Both cats and dogs (as well as zoo animals) have contracted the coronavirus and tested positive for COVID-19.
On Tuesday, the CDC released new guidelines “Do not let pets interact with people or animals outside the household. If a person inside the household becomes sick, isolate that person from everyone -- including pets.”
The CDC recommends that we avoid dog parks and other large gatherings with four-legged friends. With only a limited amount of information, it appears humans are at low risk of contracting COVID-19 from an infected family pet.
