Airline Will Weigh Each Passenger Before Boarding!

This sounds awful. Would you be willing to get weighed in order to board a plane?

British startup Fuel Matrix wants to discreetly weigh passengers in order to help airlines save on fuel costs and at the same time avoid making customers feel fat-shamed.

For now, airlines usually use an estimated weight based on passenger gender (about 205 pounds for men and about 165 pounds for women) to determine how much fuel a plane needs, but since this is very general, planes end up carrying extra fuel they don't need. Fuel Matrix would also use their weight data to seat passengers in a way so the weight would be more evenly distributed. A few airlines have attempted to weigh passengers in the past, to mixed results-- luckily Fuel Matrix doesn't plan to encourage airlines to charge more to those who weigh more.
