According to a new survey, the amount of cash you should have on you is … $200.
Why $200?
Because it’s enough to handle a standard emergency – like if you’re at dinner and your credit card gets declined.
Not surprisingly, not many people carry around that much cash.
A survey from Money magazine found that 42% of people carry no more than $40 in cash,
- 30% carry between $41 and $99,
- 17% carry $100 to $199,
- 11% carry $200 or more.
