A California start-up company called Apeel Sciences is testing a technology that they say can more than double the shelf life of vegetable and fruits.
The technology has a plant-based film that reinforces the avocados' skin. Apeel Sciences say that they'd like to start with other produce as will including nectarines and asparagus.
This is all said to double the shelf life, making them less perishable.
There will be new avocados headed into Costco stores in the Midwest this week that will test the technology!
